A Message to Raymond, Grammar Troll and Owner of Leaside Paint Centre

Some might call this an unnecessary vent that I probably should just brush aside. To be frank, I haven’t really had the opportunity to rant or vent about anything on my blog since 2009. And really, you can only be polite so much before you explode. So I’m letting myself do just that. I recently published an article on one of the many guest sites that I contribute to. Most of the time, the comment section is always a cesspool and/or breeding ground of low-lifes and extremists,  ...

Samsung’s next smartphone display was designed for VR

It’s becoming more and more clear that virtual reality is going to the be the driver to push the spec race in smartphones to the next level. This week, Samsung demonstrated a new smartphone display designed specifically for VR and likely headed to a future Samsung smartphone. According to a report from UploadVR, the 5.5-inch panel packs 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, making it a 4K class screen. It has a staggering 806PPI, 350 nit brightness level, and can reproduce 97 percent of the  ...

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End PS4 Single Player Story Review

I had the pleasure of playing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End for a few weeks now, and damn – it’s one exceptional experience. As a casual player of the previous three installments of the Uncharted series, A Thief’s End ups the ante with new features that elevate the power of PS4. As my last review on the Uncharted trilogy stated: the previous upgrades look good on paper, but don’t actually make full use out of the PS4’s mechanics and its potential wow-factor.  ...

Summer Beer of Choice: Tyskie Pilsner Lager

With May 2-4 weekend ahead of us, it’s time to start packing the coolers and stocking the cottage fridge with beers of all variety. For some, the choice of beer comes down to cheap thrills while others prefer the R&R with a curated selection of both Ontario brews and imports. The lager is a staple – and as a suggestion for those looking to stock up on unique options, the Tyskie has my seal of approval. As a light pilsner lager and one of the most popular beers out of Poland, the  ...

‘Audi R8 V10 plus selection 24h’ is an awkward name for a gorgeous car

Audi is introducing a special edition of its R8 sports car to celebrate its victory at the Nürburgring 24 Hours last year in the racing version of the car, the R8 LMS. It’s called the "Audi R8 V10 plus selection 24h." It’s a weird name — but there’s nothing weird about the beautiful car itself. It’s based on the already great Audi R8 V10 plus, but has a number of additional special bits to make this 24-unit limited edition run a little more special. A ton  ...

9 Stylish Features in the 2016 Jaguar XJL

There’s something synonymous between style and the Jaguar. Call it a bond between the British luxury car maker and its visionary design director, Ian Callum. Or maybe it’s the decades of industry-leading design, dating back to 1945. Or it could be as simple as saying the jaguar is the coolest feline in the animal kingdom. Whatever that theoretical reason may be: the Jaguar and its ferocious style are predatory in the auto industry. Oddly enough, when someone thinks of a modern  ...

A Silicon Valley entrepreneur is bootstrapping his own self-driving racing series

Every month, it seems, we get closer to a world full of self-driving cars. Google’s tiny self-driving cars keep popping up in new states and cities; Ford and GM keep making strategic investments; and the all-electric Formula E is helping create Roborace, a fantastic-looking autonomous racing series. So it’s almost not surprising that angel investor and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Josh Schachter recently announced plans to start his own autonomous racing series — though he admits  ...

This App Lets You Teleport Your Friends To You

Before I get you too excited – no, humanity hasn’t discovered the technology for science fiction’s greatest invention. No dematerialization, no flashing blue lights shot from the skies, no Jumper. In our current state of advanced technology, we’re just skimming the surface of virtual reality’s practical application, 3D TV’s still require a goofy headset, and we can get hoverboards in the air for 10 minutes tops. While teleportation is in my top three  ...

Watch a Ferrari F12 and Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Hit the Drag Strip

There are a lot of differences between the Ferrari F12 and Lamborghini Aventador. But at the same time, there are a few similarities too. They both have about 700 horsepower, give or take. They both are large touring cars. And they both make everything else on the road look inferior—but that’s beside the point. With that in mind, two drivers took to the track in their respective Italian supercars; the Ferrari F12, with a 731 horsepower V12, and the Lamborghini Aventador, with a 691  ...

Swedish automaker Volvo will send up to 100 self-driving cars to China for testing on public roads in a variety of conditions, the company’s CEO announced at a seminar in Beijing today.
